Guarded Servers

Help

Help and troubleshooting.

Most questions are about connecting for the first time, so start there. If none of this answers your question, email us and a person will reply.

Connecting

Adding the world to Minecraft.

The address is on your dashboard. Bedrock also needs the port number, which is the step people usually miss.

Java Edition, on a computer

  1. Open Minecraft Java Edition and choose Multiplayer.
  2. Choose Add Server.
  3. Enter any name you like in the name box.
  4. Paste the address from your dashboard into the address box.
  5. Choose Done, then double-click the server in the list.

Bedrock, on a tablet or phone

  1. Open Minecraft and choose Play, then the Servers tab.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and choose Add Server.
  3. Enter any name you like in the name box.
  4. Copy the address and the port number from your dashboard into the two boxes.
  5. Save, then choose the server from the list.

Everyday tasks

The three you will use most.

Approving a friend

Ask them to try joining once. They will be denied, and their request appears in your dashboard within a few seconds with the username they play under.

Removing someone

Open your approved players list and remove them. They cannot rejoin, and they are not told who removed them or why.

Restoring the world

Choose any of the last seven days from your dashboard and restore it. The world returns to how it was at the end of that day.

When something is wrong

Common problems.

My child cannot see the server in their list

On Java, check that the address matches your dashboard exactly. On Bedrock, the port number goes in a separate field, which is the step most people miss. Both values are shown in your dashboard.

A friend says they keep getting kicked out

That is the approval system working. Anyone who is not yet approved is denied, and their request appears in your dashboard. Approve them and their next attempt will work.

Someone is being unpleasant in chat

Remove them from your approved players list and they cannot rejoin. They are not told who removed them, and you do not have to give a reason.

The world is running slowly

Worlds go to sleep when nobody has played for a while, so the first person to join each day waits a few extra seconds. If it stays slow after that, email us and we will look into it.

Something was destroyed and we want it back

Open your dashboard, choose a day from the last week and restore it. The world returns to how it was at the end of that day.
